I have been looking for a quality Trojan or Texan kit for a long time and happy to see that The Hangar made it happen.  I have built a couple dozen flite test kits, but have never used high quality skins.  Thus, I am looking forward to getting my Texan kit and sharing the experience with others.

Putting together possible power system for my ‘incoming’ Texan.  I have two motors to consider. One is a 2815/1400kv and the other a flite test 2212/1050 kv.  I think either will work but any advice appreciated.  Using an orange six channel receiver some FMS 9g servos, an eflite 30A esc and possibly a hobby mate gyro stabilizer. I doubt if that will be needed but its cheap and I like the way they smooth out flight on some models.

Considering a couple of different propellers. The Master airscrew 3 blade 8 inch is appealing.

This is a heavier possibility with the flite test motor, and a big prop spinner and two blade.  I have used this on flite test p40 and it worked well, so might consider, or at least try on my Texan. I also want to figure out landing gear configuration.  I have a set of Eflite gear that might work.

Its here!  As they promised.  No damage to exterior box that has a nice looking Hangar RC stamp on it.  Packaging was nicely done, and leaves a GREAT first impression.  The skins are exciting.

First impressions are important.  Received my kit on timeline promised. No damage. Out box has a nice looking Hangar RC stamp on it.

Professionally wrapped with a lot of though I think to first impressions.  The skins look awesome. Laser printed horns and firewall is cool. More to follow.

First things first. Most of what I have learned has been trial and error.  I really messed up a foam board model using glue that ‘ate’ the foam. So I tested that glue on a scrap I cut from the Texan kit. Sure enough it just chewed up the foam.

So be careful and TEST whatever glue you choose.  I would recommend build video mentions the need to cut a scrap and test the glue you intend to use.  I will head out and get some Gorilla glue in the morning.

Do NOT use this glue on foam:

First things first. Make sure you are using the ‘right stuff’. Learned the hard way and ruined another foam kit by using this glue that ate the foam.  I tested it on a scrap from this kit and sure enough it just curled up. I would highly recommend mentioning this in build videos. Not ALL glues work. This one doesn’t DON’T  use it.

The result of using the wrong type of glue. I will head out in the morning to try some Gorilla spray glue.

Opened a new folder in Vimeo to document some of the build experience. Enjoy. https://vimeo.com/manage/folders/3721163

I am enjoying the attention to detail in this kit.  The skins are a step above any other foam board model kits I have seen.  And then things like adding this 3d printed elevator brace to strengthen shows how much The Hangar is thinking about the little things that that will end up making this a strong model that lasts for a long time. A LOT of value for price for sure.

Quality experience continues. Parts are all clearly marked. Cuts and scores are precise so the preparation for build is easy.  The ‘fit’ for folds and other parts is much more precise than I am used to.  The 3d parts like motor mount is sure a lot better than cheap wood parts. Just really enjoying the journey here.
